Senior Mechanical Engineer for leading Construction Attachments manufacturing company in the North East of Ireland.

Reporting to the Research and Development Manager, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the co-ordination, development and design of new products and the co-ordination of resources as delegated by the R&D Manager.

You will work closely with Vendors, Purchasing, Customer Service, Production and Warehouse personal.

This is a full-time position and full training will be given to the selected candidate.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Applying sound Engineering principles to develop machine Designs using 3D CAD
  • Generation of 2D Layouts, 3D Models & Technical Drawing of complete mechanical assemblies
  • Creation of documentation inputs for complete machine life cycle traceability, spare parts, Bills of Materials etc.
  • Generation of new product designs which meet manufacturing, safety, CE and performance requirements. Designs include new product development, tooling, fixtures, and modification/upgrades to current product.
  • Understand industry design specifications and technical criteria to develop product designs based on customer and market specifications.
  • Working within groups in order to successfully complete projects.
  • Ensure equipment solutions are delivered within planned schedule and within budget.
  • Ensure documentation/drawing standards for equipment meet requirements.
  • Build Quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.
  • Focus on good engineering practice in an application of mechanical design and technical drawing.
  • Work as part of a design team with ability to work under own initiative
  • Evaluate value engineering or cost saving opportunities
  • Assist in the production of weekly progress reports
  • Assist in the compilation and assessment of Technical Submittals.
  • Seek to clarify queries with the design team through the request for information (RFI) system.
  • Organize and assess the work of sub-contractors.

Qualifications Required & Preferred Skills Set:

  • Bachelor’s Honors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent.
  • 3D CAD modelling and drawing, preferably Solidworks
  • Some knowledge of drafting standards and tolerancing an advantage.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Strong reporting skills.
  • Good decision-making ability & problem-solving skills.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.

The ideal candidate:

  • Ideally will have some R&D Experience.
  • Relevant work preferred experience 2 to 5 years but not essential.
  • Experience in the construction equipment / attachments or agricultural engineering sector.
  • Has a strong commercial awareness of the Construction/agricultural sector
  • Attention to detail
  • Enjoys teamwork with hands on approach.
