Role Purpose

The QHSE Supervisor will have full QHSE co-ordination responsibility for all wind farm workstreams in supporting Asset Operations. The role will focus on implementing our QHSE risk management system - aspects of which include, but not limited to, supplier competency assessments, risk assessments, method statements, audits & inspections, providing training, participating in Event/ incident investigations and reporting, and supporting the QHSE Department in delivering business function workstreams.

Applicants should have a degree or post-graduate high-Diploma in Health and Safety and a minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience in the field of Health and Safety, with preferably a good working knowledge of the wind industry and wind farm operations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Liaising with the various departments within the business to ensure compliance with Quality, Health, Safety (Inc. security) and Environmental legislation, and best industry practice.
  • Providing QHSE advice to Regional Supervisors and Works Owners during the operational and maintenance phases of projects.
  • Ensuring that all planned works on Orsted Onshore Ireland & UK wind farms are executed in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Complete QHSE competency assessments for Contractors and Consultants as necessary.
  • Conduct and review risk assessments and method statements applicable to Operations sites, and Facilities.
  • Ensure that Orsted Onshore Ireland & UK activities are executed in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, in line with current legislation.
  • Conduct independent inspections of facilities and practices, as required; for conformance with site, business and/or statutory safety requirements.
  • Develop and maintain QHSE documentation such as work procedures, training records, promotional material, KPIs, reports, presentations, PPE provisions, etc.
  • Provide document control support in developing and maintaining the QHSE directory and admin support on QHSE related software utilized by the business.
  • Provide technical knowledge and expertise in QHSE to all levels throughout the Orsted Onshore Ireland & UK organization.
  • Act as Orsted Onshore Ireland & UK QHSE representative at operation meetings, and in-house meetings as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Good understanding of legislation (Primarily employment legislation IRL & UK, Construction Regs, etc.)
  • Should have a good working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems and civil works, and an awareness of associated high-risks.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of management systems and effective document control practices, collation of KPIs, etc.
  • Contribute to training material, assist with presenting in-house and external stakeholder workshops on QHSE related subject matter.
  • Be familiar with risk mitigation practices – Job planning, risk assessment (Hierarchy of Controls), etc.
  • Experience in conducting inspections, site walk-downs, etc.
  • Have an awareness of behavioural based safety systems and best industry practices.
  • Demonstrate a flexible work approach towards change management and be collaborative and open in their approach to facilitate the delivery of QHSE initiatives and in providing QHSE support to the business.
  • IT skills – be proficient in the use of Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Teams and show potential adaptability in utilizing I-Auditor, Wyzed and similar Learning Management Systems (LMS).
