Lab Technician (Chemistry)

Candidates with experience in HPLC or LC/MSMS preferable.

Based in Dungarvan & reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the role will involve working with a dedicated team of Technicians, Quality Manager to carry out a range of chemical analysis of food products. The successful candidate will be based in the laboratories at Dungarvan that receive samples every day of the year.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analysis of a range of dairy products including milk, dairy powders and dairy liquids, using approved analytical methods
  • Keep testing activities running as smoothly as possible by prioritising and organising your workload
  • Ensure compliance to the internationally recognised accreditation standard. Successful implementation and participation in internal and external proficiency testing
  • Using LIMS to carry out all lab activities
  • Review and document lab investigations as part of the Glanbia CAPA programme
  • Participate to the validation of accredited test methods and commissioning of new instruments / project works
  • Monitor performance, troubleshoot instruments and engage with engineers on preventative equipment maintenance
  • Adhere to the Glanbia health and safety policies and contribute to its improvements
  • Complete other Laboratory related business needs as/if they occur

Key Requirements:
  • Ideally, experience of chromatographic analysis and related instrumentation (HPLC or LC/MSMS)
  • Minimum of 2 experience in a similar role
  • BSc in Food Science, Science or related discipline
  • A strong communicator and ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Excellent IT skills, experience of LIMS and statistical analysis desirable
  • An ability to interpret test data and problem solving skills
  • Good organisational ability
  • Desire to do further relevant training and improvement.
  • Proven ability to work with their own initiative and within a team
  • Track record of Lean Manufacturing and 5S an advantage
